Fire in the office building across the street from the TW Bangalore office ...

A huge fire broke out in the building across the street from my office building today. At least 9 people were killed when they panicked and jumped out of the building -- unfortunately most of us here in the office witnessed some of those deaths. Sad / distressing day.

Click here for newspaper article on the fire.

We'll definitely be having a fire drill in the office next week -- the buildings here are not equipped with sprinklers, etc. -- so fires present a much greater danger here. (not to mention that it took the fire trucks over 30 minutes to get to the fire)

Update: after writing this post, I did notice that my building does in fact have sprinklers -- but I don't have a lot of faith that they work. The newspapers are reporting that the fire exits were all blocked in the building -- which is why people were trapped.
