On Thursday, I left work for a couple of hours to attend the wedding of a friend's brother. I find Hindu weddings fascinating -- lots of pomp & circumstance. Unfortunately I had to leave early to catch a flight to Pune -- so I missed the wedding luncheon, I'm sure it was fabulous!
In these pictures:
- Jayanthan and his son Ved (Jayanthan is an ex-ThoughtWorker currently residing in NJ; the groom is Jayanthan's brother-in-law)
- the groom in a pre-wedding ceremony
- the bride
Hindu brides typically wear a wedding lehenga or sari in red & white to symbolize fertility, wealth, and purity. Hands and feet are painted with henna in the Mehendi ceremony.
