I spent my first two nights in Bali at the Amandari Resort in Ubud. Highly recommend the resort -- beautiful place with amazing service. My room was amazing with a wonderful view of the forest/jungle. The first day that I was there I didn't really do anything except laze around and read and enjoy the resort (and got a great balinese massage). The second day I went out trekking through rice paddies and the mountains. Also got in some shopping (great shopping in Bali - especially for silver jewelry, stone carvings, and paintings -- I had limited suitcase space -- so stuck to jewelry).
