We expected that our descent down the winding stairs (see Nandi Hills post) would bring us to the NH parking lot where we had arranged to meet up with our driver.
Imagine our surprise when the stairs brought us into a small village.
We had no idea how to get to the NH parking lot --- it took us over an hour and numerous phone calls to finally connect with our driver. We got nowhere trying to explain to the driver that we were in some village at the foot of the hill -- so instead, we picked out a landmark temple that was supposedly close to the village and asked him to meet us there.
While we were wandering around trying to find the temple --- we had about 10 kids from the village following us around -- asking us questions, etc. One of the little kids was a great mimic -- he repeated everything that I said with a perfect American accent -- very funny. Eventually we paid one of the kids to run ahead to see if he could find our driver (this was after walking for 50 minutes to try to find a temple that was supposed to be just 1 km from the village). The kid hit pay-dirt and 10 minutes later we were in the car driving off to our next adventure.
