I spent 3 days in Jaipur this past weekend. Jaipur, founded in 1727, is the capital city of the Indian state of Rajasthan (North India). It's one of the first planned cities in India and the streets are wide and well laid out.
Jaipur is also known as the Pink City -- the whole city was painted that color in 1853 to welcome the Prince of Wales on his visit to the city. The city walls and main avenue buildings are still painted that color today (it's actually more salmon than pink).
I had a great weekend in Jaipur -- it's a beautiful city with interesting sites, good shopping, and excellent food!
